If
you are one of the 30% of men who suffers from premature ejaculation
then you'll be wondering whether over the counter medicine could be the
answer. I know all the treatments and have tried most of them. Let's
find out.
Anesthetics
These come in a cream or a spray form. In general, the spray form is
most effective because it is simply the anesthetic combined with water.
The anesthetic active ingredient is usually lidocaine. The most popular example of lidocaine spray is called Stud 100, you may have heard of it.
Around ten minutes before penetration (e.g. during foreplay), you
should apply 3 to 8 sprays to mostly the head of your penis. You can do
more sprays than this and to your entire penis but the instructions
recommend no more than 24 sprays in 24 hours total.
After this you will experience a slight numbing sensation. Anesthetic
blocks the nerve signals between your penis and your brain. A few
sprays will block only a small percentage of the signals.
So this means that you will experience slightly less pleasure but at
the advantage of more time. Nothing is free, including the spray which
you can get for around 15 to 20 bucks.

You can also get anesthetic condoms. The most popular brand is the Durex Performa/Performax range. They contain a small amount of benzocaine
gel in the tip. They are much easier to use than sprays and your
partner need never know about your problem. However, they are not as
effective or as flexible as lidocaine sprays.

Drugs
There currently aren't any types of premature ejaculation over the counter medicine that come in pill or drug form.
Scientists are still trying to figure out how to make such a pill.
Until then, the only drug treatment available is a permanent course of antidepressants.
These will help to get rid of your anxiety in the bedroom (the true
cause of all PE) but the problem is that they will also affect you 24
hours a day. This is an option that most men are not willing to
consider but if you want to pursue it then you should speak to your
doctor about getting a script. Antidepressants are not available over the counter.
